INDICATIONS

• Osteoarthritis: The primary use is for the control of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease).
• Musculoskeletal Disorders: It is used for both acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders, including joint stiffness and swelling.
• Post-Surgical Pain: Often prescribed off-label or following an initial injection to manage pain and inflammation after orthopedic or soft tissue surgeries.
• General Injuries: Used for pain relief related to trauma, such as sprains, strains, or other soft tissue injuries.
• Fever Reduction: Meloxicam has antipyretic properties and can be used to reduce fever.
• Other Off-Label Uses: May also be used for dental infections, cancer-related pain, or inflammatory conditions in other species like rabbits or horses. 

ADMINISTRATION

• Route: Tablets can be administered directly into the pet’s mouth or mixed with a small amount of food. Giving the medication with food can help minimize potential gastrointestinal side effects.
• Dosage: For dogs, a higher initial “loading dose” is typically given on the first day, followed by a lower daily maintenance dose.
• Frequency: The medication is generally given once every 24 hours. Do not give double up on a missed dose.
• Duration: Treatment duration depends on the condition being treated. For chronic conditions like arthritis, it may be used long-term with regular monitoring, while for acute pain (e.g., post-surgery), it may be for a shorter course. A clinical response is usually visible within 3-4 days.
