Ciprofloxacin & Tinidazole Suspension

Ciprofloxacin & Tinidazole suspension is used to treat bacterial and parasitic infections in animals including respiratory, urinary tract, skin and soft tissue, and gastrointestinal. Ideally suited for mass treatment in sheep herds in infections and in-contact animals. A WOAH Veterinary Medicine.

Ciprofloxacin and Tinidazole suspension is indicated for mixed bacterial and parasitic infections in a variety of animals, particularly those affecting the gastrointestinal, respiratory, and urogenital tracts.

INDICATIONS

  • Gastrointestinal Tract Infections: This includes conditions such as calf scours, diarrhea, dysentery, and mixed bacterial/protozoal infections (like amoebic and coccidial infections).
  • Respiratory Tract Infections: It is used to manage pneumonia, bronchopneumonia, and chronic respiratory diseases (CRD).
  • Urogenital Tract Infections: Indications include metritis, endometritis, mastitis, and pyometra. It is also used as an intrauterine pessary or douching solution following difficult births (dystokia) or for a retained placenta.
  • Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: It can be used as an oral treatment or a wash for general skin and soft tissue infections, including wound sepsis and foot rot in sheep.
  • Other Bacterial Diseases: The broad-spectrum activity of ciprofloxacin is effective against a range of other bacteria, including E. coli infections (colibacillosis), Salmonellosis, and Pasteurellosis.
  • Secondary Infections: It is also used to combat secondary bacterial infections that may arise during viral outbreaks.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Oral Administration: For systemic infections, the suspension is usually given directly into the pet’s mouth using a dosing syringe or mixed with a small amount of food.
    • Preparation: Shake the suspension well for about 15 seconds before measuring a dose to ensure the medication is evenly mixed.
    • Technique: Place one hand over the pet’s muzzle to gently keep their mouth closed, insert the syringe tip into the cheek pocket (side of the mouth), and slowly depress the plunger, allowing the pet time to swallow.
  • Intrauterine Administration: For reproductive health issues like endometritis or pyometra, the suspension may be administered directly into the uterus using a specific procedure
