Flumethrin is a broad-spectrum ectoparasiticide used for the control and treatment of external parasites in livestock and some companion animals.
.
INDICATIONS
- Ticks: Flumethrin is highly effective against all stages of the tick lifecycle (larvae, nymphs, and adults) and various species, including those resistant to other chemicals. It also inhibits egg laying in female ticks that survive treatment, which helps reduce pasture contamination.
- Lice: It is used to control both biting lice (Damalinia bovis) and sucking lice (Linognathus vituli, Haemotopinus eurysternus).
- Mites: Indications include the treatment and control of various mites, particularly Psoroptes mange in cattle and sheep.
- Flies: It aids in the control of biting flies and helps in repelling other flying insects such as mosquitoes and sandflies, which helps prevent disease transmission.
- Fleas: Flumethrin also has indications for controlling flea infestations.
ADMINISTRATION
Proper use involves applying the correct dose (usually 1 ml per 10 kg body weight), ensuring the skin is clean and dry, and avoiding damaged skin or applying it to mud/manure for maximum efficacy and safety.
- Determine the Correct Dose: Calculate the dose based on the animal’s body weight (e.g., 1 ml per 10 kg).
- Prepare the Animal: Ensure the animal’s coat is clean and dry where the solution will be applied.
- Apply the Solution: Pour the liquid evenly along the midline of the animal’s back, from the shoulders (withers) to the tail.
- Avoid Damaged Skin: Do not apply to broken skin, mud, or manure.
