- Tapeworms: Anoplocephala perfoliata (often requires a double dose as per veterinary direction).
ADMINISTRATION
- Determine the Correct Dose: The syringe is marked with weight increments (e.g., for every 300 lb of body weight). You must accurately weigh the animal and set the ring-gauge or screw-gauge on the plunger to the appropriate mark to avoid under- or overdosing.
- Prepare the Syringe: Remove the cap from the syringe nozzle.
- Administer the Paste: Introduce the nozzle end of the syringe into the corner of the animal’s mouth, pointing it toward the back of the tongue (dorsum). Depress the plunger to deposit the paste.
- Aid Swallowing: Raising the animal’s head slightly can help with the swallowing process.
- Store for Later Use: If only a partial dose is needed, replace the cap on the nozzle.
