Biovet BioBQ-Gel Vaccine

Biovet BioBQ-Gel vaccine is used to prevent black quarter disease (clostridium chavoei) in cattle, buffalo, sheep, and goats, a serious bacterial infection that causes high fever, swelling in the legs, and lameness. A WVA Veterinary Medicine.

Biovet BioBQ-Gel vaccine is indicated for the prevention of Blackleg and related clostridial diseases in healthy cattle and sheep.

INDICATIONS

  • Blackleg: A highly fatal disease in cattle and sheep, characterized by muscle swelling and tissue death, caused by C. chauvoei.
  • Malignant Edema: Caused by C. septicum.
  • Black Disease (Infectious Necrotic Hepatitis): Caused by Cl. novyi.
  • Gas Gangrene: Caused by Cl. sordellii.
  • Enterotoxemia & Enteritis: From Cl. perfringens Types C and D.
  • Redwater (Infectious Hemoglobinuria): From Cl. haemolyticum (included in 8-way vaccines).
  • Tetanus (Lockjaw): From Cl. tetani (in some vaccines like Covexin 8). 

ADMINISTRATION

  • Preparation: Shake the vaccine gently but thoroughly to ensure a uniform suspension.
  • Site: Inject subcutaneously (under the skin) in the lower neck region, in front of the shoulder.
  • Dose: Administer a 2 mL dose.
  • Series: A second dose is usually given 3-4 weeks later.
  • Calves: Calves vaccinated between 3-6 months old often need a third dose.
  • Storage & Handling: Store at 35-46°F (2-8°C), do not freeze, and use the entire contents once opened.

Re-vaccination annually
Storage : Store at 2°C to 8°C
