Biovet BioBQ-Gel vaccine is indicated for the prevention of Blackleg and related clostridial diseases in healthy cattle and sheep.
INDICATIONS
- Blackleg: A highly fatal disease in cattle and sheep, characterized by muscle swelling and tissue death, caused by C. chauvoei.
- Malignant Edema: Caused by C. septicum.
- Black Disease (Infectious Necrotic Hepatitis): Caused by Cl. novyi.
- Gas Gangrene: Caused by Cl. sordellii.
- Enterotoxemia & Enteritis: From Cl. perfringens Types C and D.
- Redwater (Infectious Hemoglobinuria): From Cl. haemolyticum (included in 8-way vaccines).
- Tetanus (Lockjaw): From Cl. tetani (in some vaccines like Covexin 8).
ADMINISTRATION
- Preparation: Shake the vaccine gently but thoroughly to ensure a uniform suspension.
- Site: Inject subcutaneously (under the skin) in the lower neck region, in front of the shoulder.
- Dose: Administer a 2 mL dose.
- Series: A second dose is usually given 3-4 weeks later.
- Calves: Calves vaccinated between 3-6 months old often need a third dose.
- Storage & Handling: Store at 35-46°F (2-8°C), do not freeze, and use the entire contents once opened.
*Schedule of vaccination:
Above 6 months age
Re-vaccination annually
Storage : Store at 2°C to 8°C
