Bioveta Trichoben AV is a live, avirulent vaccine used for the prophylaxis and treatment of bovine trichophytosis in cattle. It is designed to reduce clinical signs of dermatophytoses and stimulate immunity.

INDICATIONS

  • Prophylactic Immunization: Used to prevent or reduce clinical signs of ringworm (T. verrucosum) in cattle.
  • Therapeutic Immunization: Used to treat cattle already infected with T. verrucosum, reducing the duration of skin lesions and decreasing the shedding of spores.
  • Target Population: Cattle from one day of age onwards.
  • Duration of Immunity: Immunity is created within 1 month after the second dose (revaccination) and persists for at least one year, with some sources indicating up to 5 years.

ADMINISTRATION

    • Route: Intramuscularly (IM).
    • Location: Injected into the lumbar (lower back) or gluteal (buttock) muscle region.
    • Injection Site Rotation: To ensure proper immunization, the first vaccination and the second (revaccination) must be administered into opposite halves of the body (e.g., first dose on the left, second dose on the right).
    Dosage and Schedule:
    • Calves (1 day to 3 months): 2 x 2 ml doses.
    • Cattle (over 3 months): 2 x 4 ml doses.
    • Interval: The second dose (revaccination) should be given 5–14 days after the first injection.
    • Severe Cases: A third dose may be administered 2–4 weeks after the second for heavily affected or cachectic animals.
