Cevac Salmovac is indicated for protection against Salmonella Typhimurium in chickens, reducing its colonization, persistence, and invasion of the intestinal tract and internal organs.
INDICATIONS
- Poultry (Chickens):
- Prevention of Colonization: To protect against S. Typhimurium (ST) and other serovars (S. Enteritidis, S. Heidelberg) from colonizing the intestines and ceca.
- Reduced Shedding: Decreases the bacterial load shed into the environment, reducing disease spread.
- Application: Often administered via spray, drinking water, or injection at specific ages (e.g., day 1, weeks 2-4, week 12).
- Swine (Pigs):
- Control in Affected Farms: An effective tool for controlling ST in farms with a history of clinical salmonellosis.
- Reduced Clinical Signs: Helps prevent diarrhea and lethargy, especially in weaned pigs.
- Maternal Immunity: Vaccinating sows protects newborn piglets through colostrum, reducing early infection levels.
- Application: Used in both sows and piglets (from 2 weeks old) to reduce infection and shedding.
ADMINISTRATION
Schedule
- 1st Dose: From 1 day of age.
- 2nd Dose: 6 weeks after the first dose.
- 3rd Dose: Around 13 weeks of age, but no later than 3 weeks before the onset of the laying period.
Mixing and Application
- Preparation: Use only clean drinking water that is free of antiseptics or disinfectants.
- Reconstitution: Open the vaccine vial and add a small volume of water to the lyophilisate (freeze-dried powder) to ensure it dissolves completely.
- Dilution: Add the reconstituted mixture to the total volume of water required for all birds. Ensure it is mixed thoroughly.
- Water Deprivation: To ensure all birds drink the vaccine, water may be withdrawn for 1–2 hours before administration.
- Consumption Time: The vaccine-treated water must be consumed entirely within 4 hours.
