Maduramicin is a highly potent polyether ionophore antibiotic used in as an anticoccidial agent to prevent parasitic infections in poultry.
INDICATIONS
- Broiler Chickens: Prevention of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria tenella, E. acervulina, E. necatrix, E. mivati, E. maxima, and E. brunetti.
- Turkeys: Prevention of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria dispersa, E. gallopavonis, E. meleagrimitis, and E. adenoeides.
- Poultry Rearing: Used in chickens up to 16 weeks old and turkeys up to 12 weeks old.
Key Usage Guidelines & Precautions:
- Administration: It is administered orally, mixed thoroughly into feed, usually at a concentration of 5 ppm (5 mg/kg or 500g of 1% premix per ton of feed).
- Withdrawal Period: A withdrawal period of at least 5 days is required before slaughter.
- Contraindications: Do not feed to laying hens or breeding chickens due to potential accumulation in eggs. It is highly toxic to horses and other equines.
