Cephalexin is an antibiotic indicated for bacterial skin and urinary tract infections in dogs and cats.

INDICATIONS

• Secondary Superficial Pyoderma: Skin infections caused by susceptible Staphylococcus pseudintermedius, a common culprit in dogs.
• Other Skin Infections: Including skin fold pyoderma, impetigo, folliculitis, furunculosis, and cellulitis.
• Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Sometimes used off-label for UTIs in dogs and cats. 
• Palatability: Designed to be tasty and easily accepted by dogs, improving compliance.
• Convenient Dosing: Scored for accurate dosing and available in different strengths. 

ADMINISTRATION

• Directly: Give tablet directly to animal, as they are often palatable.
• Hidden in Food: If animal is hesitant, hide the tablet in a small piece of food, a treat, or wrap it in a pill pocket.
• With or Without Food: If animal experiences vomiting or nausea, give the next dose with a small amount of food.
• Follow Vet Orders: Give the exact dose and frequency (usually every 12 hours).
• Complete the Course: It’s crucial to give the full course of antibiotics as directed, even if animal appears to recover sooner, to prevent the infection from returning or becoming resistant.
