Amicogen Biopharm Cephapirin Sodium is used for the treatment of bovine mastitis in lactating cows.
INDICATIONS
- Bovine Mastitis Treatment: Used for treating mastitis in lactating cows, targeting susceptible Streptococcus agalactiae and penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
- Intramammary Administration: Formulated into products for infusion into the udder to treat infections.
- Withdrawal Times: Requires a 96-hour (4-day) withdrawal period.
ADMINISTRATION
- Intramammary Infusion: Cephapirin sodium is widely used in dairy cows to treat mastitis during lactation. It is administered via a 10 mL syringe directly into each infected teat quarter after milking.
- Administration Procedure (Lactating Cows):
- Milk out the udder completely.
- Wash the udder and teats thoroughly with a dairy antiseptic and dry them.
- Scrub the teat end and orifice with 70% alcohol.
- Infuse the entire contents of one syringe into each infected quarter.
- Gently massage the quarter to distribute the medication.
- Dosage Frequency: The standard treatment consists of two tubes administered 12 hours apart.
