INDICATIONS

• Treatment of existing mastitis in dairy cows during the dry period.
• Prevention of new intramammary infections that could occur during the dry period.
• Target Pathogens: The drug is specifically shown to be efficacious against susceptible strains of:
  • Streptococcus agalactiae
  • Staphylococcus aureus (including penicillin-resistant strains) 

ADMINISTRATION

• Target Species and Timing: Cephapirin benzathine is labeled for use in dry cows only (cows that have stopped lactating in preparation for their next calving). It should be administered immediately after the last milking of the current lactation, and no later than 30 days before calving.
• Indication: It is effective in treating mastitis (udder infection) caused by susceptible bacteria, particularly Streptococcus agalactiae and Staphylococcus aureus, including penicillin-resistant strains. Treatment is recommended for any cow known to harbor these organisms in the udder at drying off.
• Method of Administration:
  • The udder and teats must be thoroughly cleaned and dried before application. The teat end is scrubbed with an alcohol pad.
  • The entire contents of one syringe are infused into each quarter of the udder via the teat canal using an included applicator tip (either partial or full insertion, depending on veterinary guidance).
  • The medication is then gently massaged up into the udder to ensure distribution.
