Cefazolin Injection

RK Life Care's Cefazolin is an antibiotic of the cephalosporin class, widely used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is commonly prescribed for conditions such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and skin infections. an antibiotic used in dogs, cats, and other animals to treat a variety of susceptible bacterial infections, and for surgical prophylaxis. Cefazolin Injection is indicated for treating serious bacterial infections, and for surgical prophylaxis in dogs, cats, and horses.

INDICATIONS

  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Wound infections
  • Bone and joint infections
  • Pneumonia and other respiratory tract infections
  • Bladder and urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • Septicemia (bacterial infections in the bloodstream)
  • Surgical prophylaxis, administered before and during surgery to prevent post-operative infections. 

ADMINISTRATION

  • Intravenous (IV): The medication is injected directly into a vein. This method is often used in a hospital or clinic setting and may be given slowly over 3 to 5 minutes, or as an intermittent infusion diluted in IV fluids. Rapid injection can sometimes cause vomiting.
  • Intramuscular (IM): The medication is injected into a large muscle mass, such as the hind leg or the muscles along the spine.
  • Subcutaneous (SQ): The injection is given just under the skin in an area with extra skin, like between the shoulder blades. The skin is typically pinched to create a “tent” for the injection.
