INDICATIONS

  • Treatment of Bacterial Infections: Effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
  • Respiratory Tract Infections: Used in the treatment of pneumonia and other lower respiratory infections.
  • Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Indicated for treating infections of the urinary tract.
  • Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Treats infections in skin and skin structures, including wounds and abscesses.
  • Septicemia: Used in the treatment of systemic bacterial infections.
  • Meningitis: Effective against bacterial meningitis.
  • Bone and Joint Infections: Used to treat infections such as osteomyelitis.
  • Surgical Prophylaxis: Used to prevent infections following surgical procedures.
  • Mastitis (Dairy Cattle): Specific formulations (such as intramammary injections) are used for the treatment of clinical and sub-clinical mastitis and for dry-cow therapy.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Intramuscular (IM) Injection: The powder should be reconstituted with sterile water (e.g., 3 mL for a 750 mg vial) to form a suspension. It must be injected deep into a large muscle mass, such as the gluteus or thigh.
  • Intravenous (IV) Injection: The powder is reconstituted with sterile water to create a clear solution (e.g., 750 mg in 8.3 mL or 1.5 g in 16 mL). It can be injected directly into a vein over 3 to 5 minutes or added to an IV infusion bag (0.9% Sodium Chloride or 5% Dextrose)
