Cepravin Dry Cow Intramammary Syringe

Cefalonium is an antibiotic suspension for intramammary infusion, used in dairy cows at the point of drying off (end of lactation) to treat existing sub-clinical mastitis infections, and prevent new ones during the dry period.

Cepravin Dry Cow is indicated for use in dry cows for the treatment of subclinical mastitis, and the prevention of bacterial infections.

INDICATIONS

  • Existing infections: Eliminates subclinical infections present at drying off.
  • Prevent new infections: Protects against common mastitis pathogens during the dry period.
  • Broad-spectrum coverage: Effective against Gram-positive (Staph. aureus, Strep. uberis) and Gram-negative (E. coli, Klebsiella) bacteria.
  • Long-lasting protection: Delivers high antibiotic levels for up to 10 weeks, reducing infection risk.
  • Mastitis Control Programs: Used as part of a comprehensive “Five-Point Plan” for mastitis management.

ADMINISTRATION

One syringe is infused into each udder quarter immediately after the final milking. Maintaining proper hygiene is essential:
  1. Completely milk out the udder.
  2. Clean and disinfect the teat ends.
  3. Prepare the syringe for either short or full nozzle administration, being careful not to contaminate the tip.
  4. Gently insert the nozzle into the teat canal and infuse the full dose.
  5. Massage the treated quarter to disperse the antibiotic.
  6. Apply a suitable antiseptic post-milking teat dip.
