Ciprofloxacin

DOTCOM Dotflox (ciprofloxacin lactate) is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used intravenously to treat severe bacterial infections in poultry, ruminants (cattle, sheep, goats), and rabbits.

INDICATIONS

Respiratory Tract Infections: Upper respiratory infections, infectious coryza, chronic respiratory disease (CRD), and mycoplasmosis.
Gastrointestinal Infections: Gastroenteritis, Colibacillosis (E. coli), and Salmonellosis.
Reproductive & Urogenital Infections: Metritis, endometritis, pyometra, salpingitis, and urinary tract infections (cystitis, nephritis, urethritis).
Mastitis: Treatment of bacterial mastitis in ruminants.
Skin, Bone & Ear Infections: Deep-seated infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
Surgical Care: Used in pre- and post-surgical care to prevent or treat infections.
Systemic Infections: Meningitis and Anthrax.
Secondary Infection Control: Prevention of secondary bacterial infections following viral infections (such as Ranikhet or Gumboro).

ADMINISTRATION

DOTCOM Dotflox is administered via slow intravenous (IV) infusion into a vein, typically over 30 to 60 minutes to reduce discomfort and venous irritation.

Method: Slow IV infusion (directly or diluted) into a large vein.
Duration: Generally, a 200 mg dose is infused over 30 minutes, and 400 mg over 60 minutes.
Pediatric Dosage: Infusion should be given over 60 minutes.
Frequency: Usually every 8–12 hours, depending on the infection.
Precautions: The solution must be checked to ensure it is clear and not cloudy before use.
