Copper EDTA Powder

Copper EDTA is used to prevent and treat copper deficiency in livestock, such as sheep, cattle, and deer, as it provides a reliable way to supplement copper that is vital for the animal's immune function, bone and nerve development.

Copper EDTA powder is indicated for treating copper deficiency (hypocuprosis) in cattle, sheep, and deer.

INDICATIONS

  • Copper deficiency in livestock: Corrects low copper levels in cattle, sheep, and deer.
  • Support for essential functions: Aids in red blood cell formation (hemoglobin), bone/joint development, nerve sheath maintenance, and hair/wool pigmentation.
  • Heavy Metal Poisoning: As a chelating agent (like EDTA), it binds to toxic metals (e.g., lead, excess copper) to facilitate their removal from the body.
  • Copper Toxicosis: Can be used in severe cases where copper accumulates to toxic levels in the liver, though it must be carefully managed due to potential adverse effects on milk yield or fertility.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Route: Subcutaneous (SQ) injection only, under the skin.
  • Location: In the front half (anterior) of the neck.
  • Preparation: Shake the liquid suspension well before use.
  • Dosage: Varies by species and severity; e.g., 2mL for cattle over 4 months, 1mL for adult sheep, 1mL/50kg for deer, but can be increased (up to 4mL in cattle) if severe deficiency is confirmed.
  • Frequency: Injections can usually be repeated every 4 months.
