Dipyrone Injection

Zimeta (dipyrone) is a veterinary medicine used in horses only, for the control of severe pain and high fever caused by infections such as Eperythrozoon, toxoplasmosis, circovirus, and infectious pleurisy.

Dipyrone is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for its potent fever-reducing and pain-relieving properties.

INDICATIONS

  • Pain management: Treatment of moderate to severe pain, including post-surgical, cancer-related, and musculoskeletal pain.
  • Colic: Management of signs of mild colic or gastrointestinal pain, although research evidence does not fully support its traditional anti-spasmodic activity.
  • Spasmodic conditions: Relief of spasms of the internal organs or the gastrointestinal and urogenital tracts in various animals.
  • Other conditions: Management of pain and fever associated with conditions like mastitis, arthritis, neuritis, and tenosynovitis in cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and dogs.
  • Shar-Pei fever: Emergency treatment of high, rapidly spiking fevers in Chinese Shar-Pei dogs suffering from Shar-Pei Autoinflammatory Disease (SPAID).

ADMINISTRATION

  • Route: It must be administered as an intravenous injection.
  • Dosing Schedule: The typical dosage is 30 mg/kg of body weight, administered once or twice daily, with at least a 12-hour interval between doses.
  • Duration: Treatment should not exceed three consecutive days. The duration depends on the horse’s response and the recurrence of fever.
  • For Horses Only:  Not for use in horses intended for human food consumption or any food-producing animals.
