Intervet Ibaflin (ibafloxacin) is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic use for the treatment of bacterial infections in dogs and cats.
INDICATIONS
Indications for Dogs:
- Dermal Infections: Treats superficial/deep pyoderma, wounds, and abscesses caused by Staphylococcus spp., E. coli, and Proteus spp.
- UTIs: Acute, uncomplicated infections from Staphylococci, Proteus, Enterobacter, E. coli, and Klebsiella spp.
- Respiratory Infections: Upper respiratory infections caused by Staphylococci, E. coli, and Klebsiella spp.
Indications for Cats:
- Soft-Tissue Infections: Wounds and abscesses from Staphylococcus spp., E. coli, Proteus spp., and Pasteurella spp.
- Respiratory Infections: Upper respiratory infections caused by Staphylococcus spp., E. coli, Klebsiella spp., and Pasteurella spp.
ADMINISTRATION
Ibaflin is administered orally to dogs and cats as a 3% oral gel.
- Administration Method: Oral administration only.
- Dosage: 15 mg/kg body weight once daily.
- Oral Gel Dosage: 0.5 ml of 3% gel per kg body weight once daily.
- Timing: Can be given with food, which is preferred for optimal absorption.
- Duration: Typically used for skin and respiratory infections.
