Ivermectin & Clorsulon Injection

Ivermectin & Clorsulon Injection is a broad-spectrum parasiticide used to treat internal and external parasites in cattle including gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms, liver flukes, cattle grubs, sucking lice and mange mites.

Ivermectin & Clorsulon injection is indicated for the control of internal and external parasites in beef cattle and non-lactating dairy cattle.

INDICATIONS

  • Internal Parasites
    • Gastrointestinal roundworms (adults and fourth-stage larvae)
    • Lungworms (adults and fourth-stage larvae)
    • Adult liver flukes (Fasciola hepatica) – this is the specific role of clorsulon
  • External Parasites
    • Cattle grubs (parasitic stages)
    • Sucking lice
    • Mange mites (cattle scab)

ADMINISTRATION

  • Route: Subcutaneous injection only, typically administered behind the shoulder. It is not for intravenous or intramuscular use, and using it in other animal species (especially dogs with the MDR1 gene mutation) can be fatal.
  • Equipment: Sterile needles (16-gauge, 1/2″ to 3/4″) and automatic syringe equipment for larger containers are recommended. The injection site should be cleaned with a suitable disinfectant.
  • Timing: For cattle grubs, treatment should occur after the end of the heel fly season to avoid adverse reactions when the larvae are in vital areas like the esophagus or spinal canal. A veterinarian should be consulted for proper timing within a planned parasite control program.
