Startvac Vaccine against E coli and Staph. aureus Mastitis
Hipra's Startvac vaccine is used to vaccinate healthy dairy cows and heifers against mastitis. Designed to reduce the incidence of mastitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus, coliforms, and coagulase-negative staphylococci.
Mastitis – E. coli and S. aureus vaccine is indicated for healthy dairy cattle in herds with recurring mastitis.
INDICATIONS
Reduced Subclinical Mastitis: Helps lower the number of hidden infections, often detected by high Somatic Cell Counts (SCC).
Decreased Clinical Severity: Lowers the intensity and duration of visible signs like abnormal milk, swelling, and pain.
Improved Milk Quality: Contributes to lower SCC and better milk composition.
Herd Health Management: An integrated part of a program for herds facing chronic mastitis issues.
ADMINISTRATION
Route: Deep intramuscular injection (IM) in the neck muscles.
Dose: Usually 2 mL per animal.
Initial Vaccination: A first dose is given during the dry period, often around 45 days before the expected calving date.
Preparation: Shake the vaccine well before use and allow it to reach room temperature (+15 to +25°C).
Target: Protects against the endotoxins of E. coli and S. aureus, reducing severity.
Booster Shot: A second dose is typically given 2-4 weeks after the first, or about 10 days before calving, to ensure high antibody levels are present at birth.
Repeat for Each Lactation: The full vaccination program is usually repeated with each subsequent gestation.
