Novocillin LC Intramammary Suspension

Novocillin LC (Oxacillin) is an intramammary suspension used to treat clinical mastitis in lactating dairy cows, specifically targeting infections caused by Staphylococcus and Streptococcus species. It contains 1000 mg of oxacillin sodium per syringe, which is a beta-lactamase resistant penicillin that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis.

Novocillin LC Intramammary Suspension is an antibiotic indicated for the treatment of clinical mastitis in lactating dairy cows.

INDICATIONS

  • Target Species: Cattle (lactating dairy cows).
  • Targeted Pathogens: Staphylococcus spp. and Streptococcus spp. 
  • Indication: Treatment of clinical mastitis during lactation.
  • Active Ingredient: Each 10g syringe contains 1000 mg of oxacillin sodium.
  • Route of Administration: Intramammary use (infused into the teat canal).

ADMINISTRATION

  • Dosage: Infuse the full contents of one syringe (10 g) into each affected udder quarter.
  • Frequency: Administer three consecutive treatments, with 24-hour intervals between each dose.
  • Procedure:
    1. Milk out: Immediately prior to treatment, all affected udder quarters should be milked out thoroughly.
    2. Clean: Clean and disinfect the teat tip thoroughly with surgical spirit or alcohol-impregnated wipes.
    3. Infuse: Insert the nozzle into the teat canal and apply steady pressure on the plunger.
    4. Massage: Gently massage the teat and udder upward after infusion to aid dispersion.
    5. Dip: It is advised to use an appropriate teat dip or spray following the infusion.
