Virbac EUTHASOL is indicated for rapid, humane, and painless euthanasia in dogs. It is a highly concentrated solution intended for intravenous (preferred) or intracardiac injection, ensuring quick, reliable action.

INDICATIONS

• Target Species: Dogs.
• Primary Use: Humane and rapid euthanasia.
• Composition: Contains pentobarbital sodium (a fast-acting barbiturate) and phenytoin sodium (which aids in rapid cardiac arrest).
• Administration: Intravenous injection is preferred, though intracardiac injection can be used if intravenous access is impractical.

ADMINISTRATION

• Method: Intravenous injection is the preferred method, with the cephalic or medial saphenous veins commonly used. Intracardiac injection is used for very small or comatose dogs where IV is not possible.
• Dosage: The standard dosage is 1 mL for every 10 pounds of body weight (.35 mL per kg.)
• Procedure: Sedation is recommended prior to administration.
• Formulation: It is a non-sterile, bright pink solution containing pentobarbital sodium (390 mg/mL) and phenytoin sodium (50 mg/mL).
