NEODIARISTIN Oral Powder

Fatro NEODIARISTIN (Phthalylsulfathiazole) is used to treat infectious diarrhea and acute/subacute enteritis in young calves, foals, piglets, lambs, and kids. It is administered orally, typically mixed with a suitable liquid, such as water or milk, or given as a drench. A WOAH Veterinary Medicine.

Phthalylsulfathiazole oral powder is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections of the gastrointestinal tract in livestock and pets.

INDICATIONS

  • Diarrhea and enteritis caused by susceptible bacteria.
  • Dysentery.
  • Colitis.
  • Gastroenteritis in various species, including foals and adult equines.
  • Intestinal infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, such as E. coli and Salmonella species.
  • Preoperative preparation in intestinal surgery to reduce the bacterial count in the bowel. 
  • Dosage:
    • Calves, foals: 1-2 sachets or 2-4 measuring cups per day (28-56 g).
    • Lambs and kids: ¼-1 sachet or ½-2 measuring cups per day (7-28 g), depending on body weight.

ADMINISTRATION

The powder is formulated for oral use and must be mixed with a suitable liquid, such as water or milk for sucking animals. Treatment is typically continued for 2 to 3 days, or up to 24 to 48 hours beyond the remission of symptoms, but should not exceed a total of 14 consecutive days. 
  • Calves and Foals: The typical dose is 1 to 2 sachets (28 to 56 grams) daily.
  • Lambs and Kids (young goats): The dose ranges from 1/4 to 1 sachet (7 to 28 grams) daily, depending on body weight.
  • Piglets, Swine, and Goats: Specific dosages are provided on the product labeling, often based on the number and weight of the animals to be treated via drinking water consumed over a 12 to 24-hour period.
