Piperazine Hydrate

Piperazine Hydrate liquid is indicated for the removal of large roundworms (ascarids) in various animal species.

Dogs and Cats: intestinal roundworm infestations, specifically Toxocara canis, Toxocara cati, and Toxascaris leonina.
Horses: Removal of large roundworms (Parascaris equorum), pinworms (Oxyuris equi), and certain small strongyles.
Swine: Treatment for large roundworms (Ascaris suum) and nodular worms (Oesophagostomum spp.).
Poultry: Control of large roundworms (Ascaridia spp.) and sometimes cecal worms (Heterakis spp.) or Capillaria.
Livestock (Cattle, Sheep, Goats): Removal of adult ascarids and nodular worms.
Mechanism: It works by paralyzing the worms (inducing flaccid paralysis), which allows them to be expelled alive.
Spectrum: It is a narrow-spectrum wormer. It is not effective against tapeworms or migrating larval stages of roundworms.

Chickens and Turkeys: Often administered as the sole source of drinking water for a period of 1-2 days, with specific ratios of medication to water based on the birds’ age.
Pigs: Mixed into drinking water or feed, with dosage based on body weight. Sows and gilts may be treated before breeding and farrowing, and growing pigs are treated at regular intervals.
Horses: Given via a dose syringe or mixed into bran mash, using a calculation based on body weight. Water may be withheld for a period before treatment to encourage consumption of the medicated water.
Dogs and Cats: Measured carefully based on body weight and given directly by mouth or mixed into their food or water. It is intended for use in animals 6 weeks or older.
