PPR Vaccine – Nigerian 75/1PPR Vaccine – Nigerian 75/1 is a live, freeze-dried vaccine used to prevent Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR), a highly contagious and deadly viral disease affecting sheep and goats, by providing long-lasting immunity after a single shot, typically protecting animals for at least three years. 

PPR Vaccine – Nigerian 75/1 is indicated for the prophylactic immunization (prevention) of sheep and goats against Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR)

INDICATIONS

  • Disease Prevention: To protect sheep and goats from contracting PPR.
  • Target Animals: Healthy sheep and goats, particularly lambs and kids.
  • Age: Generally recommended for animals 3 months of age or older, often before the breeding season.
  • Immunity: To establish strong, long-term immunity (over 3 years) against the PPR virus. 

ADMINISTRATION

  1. Reconstitution: Aseptically rehydrate the freeze-dried vaccine with the provided sterile diluent (e.g., 100 doses in 100ml saline for some versions) and shake well.
  2. Injection Site: Inject into the clean, dry skin on the side of the neck or thigh.
  3. Route: Can be subcutaneous (SC) or intramuscular (IM).
  4. Dosage: Administer 1 mL per animal.
  5. Equipment: Use a fresh, sterile syringe and needle for each animal. 

Key Precautions

  • Cold Chain: Maintain refrigeration (2°C to 8°C) and avoid freezing; the vaccine is sensitive to heat.
  • Animal Health: Do not vaccinate weak, sick, or heavily infested animals.
  • No Partial Use: Do not store partially used vials
