Trimetosul Powder

Veterina d.o.o. product Trimetosul powder (Sulfafurazole + Trimethoprim) is a broad-spectrum veterinary antibiotic used to treat bacterial and some parasitic infections in cattle, sheep, horses, pigs, and poultry. Veterina d.o.o. product Trimetosul powder (Sulfafurazole + Trimethoprim) is a broad-spectrum veterinary antibiotic used to treat bacterial and some parasitic infections in cattle, sheep, horses, pigs, and poultry.

INDICATIONS

  • Respiratory Tract Infections: Used for conditions such as rhinitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, and infectious coryza in poultry. In horses, it specifically targets lower respiratory infections like those caused by Streptococcus equi.
  • Alimentary (Gastrointestinal) Infections: Effective against salmonellosis and E. coli-induced diarrhea or enteritis.
  • Genitourinary Tract Infections: Indicated for cystitis, vaginitis, urethritis, nephritis, and metritis.
  • Soft Tissue and Skin Infections: Used to treat infected wounds, abscesses, and necrotic pododermatitis (foot rot).
  • Protozoal Infections: Provides therapeutic action against intestinal coccidiosis, toxoplasmosis, and neosporosis.
  • Other Systemic Infections: Indicated for septicaemia, mastitis, and post-operative or post-partum infections. 

ADMINISTRATION

  • Via Drinking Water: Commonly administered by dispersing it in the drinking water, particularly for poultry and groups of livestock.
  • Via Feed: Mixing the powder directly with a specific amount of feed is another administration method. Ensuring the powder is evenly distributed throughout the feed is important to help ensure consistent intake.
  • Individual Dosing: Can be mixed with a small amount of liquid and administered using a dosing bottle.
Guidelines
  • Preparation: If dispersed in water, it should be fully dissolved or shaken well before use to help maintain a consistent concentration.
  • Hydration: Providing animals with continuous access to clean water during treatment is important. Sulfonamides can potentially affect the kidneys, and adequate hydration is a factor to consider.
