INDICATIONS

    • Bacterial Enteritis and Diarrhea: Treatment of intestinal inflammation and loose stools caused by pathogens like E. coli, Salmonella, and Shigella.
    • Bacillary Dysentery: Managing severe enteric infections characterized by bloody stools.
    • Coccidiosis: Used in some livestock as an aid in treating or preventing protozoal intestinal infections.
    • Post-Surgical Prophylaxis: Preventing bacterial infections following intestinal surgery in animals.
  • ADMINISTRATION

    • Route: It is typically administered orally. Because it is bacteriostatic, the animal must have a functional immune system to fully clear the infection.

    • Withdrawal Times: For livestock intended for food, strict adherence to withdrawal periods (often 28 days for meat) is mandatory to ensure drug residues do not enter the human food chain
    • Limitations: Ineffective against viral causes of diarrhea, such as parvovirus or rotavirus.
