Sulfamonomethoxine Sodium Injection

Sinder Sulfamonomethoxine Sodium injection is a broad-spectrum sulfonamide antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in livestock, poultry, dogs, and cats, targeting respiratory, gastrointestinal, and urinary tract issues, as well as protozoal infections like coccidiosis and toxoplasmosis. Sulfamonomethoxine is a sulfa antibiotic used for respiratory, digestive, and urinary tract infections in animals.

INDICATIONS

  • Respiratory Infections: Shipping fever, bacterial pneumonia, and mixed infections in cattle.
  • Digestive Issues: Colibacillosis, intestinal edema, and diarrhea.
  • Urinary Tract Infections: General infections in the urinary system.
  • Protozoal Diseases: Coccidiosis and toxoplasmosis (e.g., swine toxoplasmosis).
  • Other Infections: Mastitis, metritis, and foot rot (pododermatitis) in animals.
  • Broad Spectrum: Effective against many Gram-positive and some Gram-negative bacteria. 

ADMINISTRATION

  • Intravenous (IV):
    • Target: Usually the jugular vein in cattle.
    • Technique: Restrain the animal, locate the raised vein, insert a sharp, sterile needle at a 45° angle, and inject the solution slowly, ensuring blood flows back freely to confirm placement.
  • Deep Intramuscular (IM):
    • Target: Large muscle masses in the neck or hindquarters.
    • Technique: Use a strong restraint, ensure the needle is sterile, and inject deeply into the muscle.
  • Subcutaneous (SC):
    • Less common for this specific drug, but sometimes used for other similar sulfa injections (e.g., in the ear for cattle).
