• Respiratory Infections: Highly effective for bacterial pneumonia, bronchitis, and upper respiratory tract infections in cattle, sheep, and goats.
• Gastrointestinal Infections: Used to treat bacterial enteritis, “calf scours” (colibacillosis), and diarrhea caused by E. coli or Salmonella.
• Coccidiosis: A primary treatment for protozoal coccidiosis in poultry, calves, sheep, and goats.
• Urogenital Infections: Indicated for metritis (uterine infection), nephritis, and general urinary tract infections.
• Soft Tissue & Local Infections: Effective against foot rot (pododermatitis), calf diphtheria, and navel ill.

ADMINISTRATION

• Oral Use Only: The bolus form of the medication is designed specifically to be given by mouth, where the active ingredient is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract.
• Use a Bolus Gun: To ensure proper administration and safety for both the animal and the handler, a bolus gun or similar tool is typically used to place the bolus at the back of the animal’s throat to facilitate swallowing.
• Lubricate: The bolus should be lubricated (e.g., with water or a suitable lubricant) before administration to make swallowing easier and prevent injury to the animal’s throat.
• Ensure Swallowing: After administering the bolus, observe the animal to ensure it has indeed swallowed the medication.
• Alternative Methods: If direct administration is difficult, some product instructions mention that the bolus may be administered with food (like molasses) or by wrapping it in a banana leaf.
• Some bolus can be crushed: and mixed with feed or drinking water, but always check the specific product instructions before doing so.
• Provide Water: Adequate clean drinking water should be available to the animal at all times during treatment, as sulfonamides can cause crystal formation in the urine, a risk that is minimized with sufficient hydration.
