Tilmicosin is a macrolide antibiotic indicated for the treatment and control of bacterial infections in cattle and sheep.
INDICATIONS
- Cattle:
- Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD): Treatment and control of respiratory infections (pneumonia) associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, and Histophilus somni.
- Interdigital Necrobacillosis: Treatment of foot lesions, commonly known as bovine pododermatitis or “foul in the foot”.
- Sheep:
- Respiratory Tract Infections: Treatment of pneumonia caused by Mannheimia haemolytica and Pasteurella multocida.
- Ovine Mastitis: Treatment of acute mastitis associated with Staphylococcus aureus and Mycoplasma agalactiae.
- Foot Rot: Treatment of foot rot caused by Dichelobacter nodosus and Fusobacterium necrophorum.
ADMINISTRATION
- Route: Subcutaneous (SC) only.
- Primary Site: High in the neck area.
- Secondary Site: If the neck is inaccessible, it may be injected into a skinfold over the rib cage behind the shoulder.
- Standard Dosage: Typically 10 mg per kg of body weight (equivalent to 1 mL per 30 kg or 66 lbs).
- Site Limit: Do not exceed 20–25 mL per injection site in cattle, or 2 mL in sheep, to minimize tissue irritation.
