Tobicillin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic indicated for treating various bacterial infections in livestock and companion animals.

INDICATIONS

  • Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Treatment of wounds, abscesses, cellulitis, and both superficial/juvenile and deep pyoderma.
  • Periodontal Infections: Management of oral infections and gum disease in dogs caused by susceptible aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.
  • Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Specifically for feline cystitis caused by susceptible strains of E. coli.
  • Gastrointestinal and Respiratory Infections: Sometimes used for infections of the digestive and respiratory tracts, though Doxycycline is often a preferred first-line choice for specific respiratory cases.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Intramuscular (IM) Injection: Given deep into a large muscle (like the hindquarters) using a needle long enough to reach the muscle, injected perpendicularly.
  • Subcutaneous (SQ) Injection: Administered under the skin in loose areas, often the neck or behind the shoulder, sliding the needle parallel to the body..
