CED-SULPHA Injection

Cedar Medcare CED-SULPHA (sulfadimidine) is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial used in cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and poultry to treat bacterial and protozoal infections. Stops the synthesis of folic acid, thus inhibiting their growth. A CODEX and WOAH Veterinary Medicine.

INDICATIONS

  • Cattle & Calves: Calf diphtheria, foot rot, shipping fever, and actinobacillosis.
  • Pigs: Atrophic rhinitis (often in combination with other drugs), necrotic enteritis, and cervical abscesses.
  • Sheep & Goats: Pasteurellosis and respiratory infections.
  • Poultry: Infectious coryza, fowl cholera, and pullorum disease.
  • Horses & Dogs: Strangles (horses) and various streptococcal infections. 

ADMINISTRATION

  1. Route: Typically given via subcutaneous (SC), intramuscular (IM), or slow intravenous (IV) injection.
  2. Hydration: Ensure animals have constant access to adequate drinking water to prevent crystalluria (kidney stone formation).
  3. Withdrawal Periods: Standard 2026 safety protocols typically require 8–18 days for meat and 3–7 days for milk, though this varies by product concentration and regional regulations.
  4. Contraindications: Not for use in animals with severe liver or kidney damage, or those with known hypersensitivity to sulfonamides.
