Ashish Life Science ASTRISUL (sulfadiazine + trimethoprim) is a broad-spectrum sulfonamide used to treat bacterial infections in horses, cattle, pigs, dogs, and cats.

INDICATIONS

• Respiratory tract infections: pneumonia, bronchitis, pleuropneumonia, rhinitis, and secondary bacterial infections associated with viral diseases or mycoplasma infections.
• Urinary and urogenital tract infections: cystitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, vaginitis, metritis, and prostatitis.
• Gastrointestinal tract infections: enteritis, diarrhea, colibacillosis, and salmonellosis.
• Skin and soft tissue infections: abscesses, cellulitis, and wound infections.
• Other infections:
  • Infectious pododermatitis (foot rot) in cattle.
  • Severe mastitis and bacterial agalactia in sows.
  • Joint infections, such as septic arthritis and osteomyelitis.
  • Acute strangles in horses.
  • Nocardia infections and some protozoal infections like coccidiosis and toxoplasmosis (often an off-label use)

ADMINISTRATION

• Cattle and Pigs: The injection is given by intramuscular (IM) or slow intravenous (IV) injection. The maximum volume recommended per intramuscular injection site is 15 ml for cattle and 5 ml for pigs.
• Horses: Administration is strictly by slow intravenous (IV) injection only. Intramuscular injection is not recommended in horses or sheep.
• Dogs and Cats: The injection is administered by subcutaneous (SC) injection in loose skin at the top of the neck.
