Colistin soluble powder is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal (enteric) infections caused by specific colistin-sensitive Gram-negative bacteria.
INDICATIONS
- Calves, Lambs, and Piglets (Pre-ruminant only): Treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea, enteritis, and other enteric infections caused by susceptible organisms.
- Swine (Pigs): Primarily used for controlling gastrointestinal infections and post-weaning diarrhea caused by E. coli and Salmonella.
- Poultry (Chickens and Turkeys): Indicated for enteritis, fowl typhoid, pullorum disease, and colibacillosis caused by susceptible bacteria like E. coli, Salmonella, and Klebsiella.
ADMINISTRATION
- Preparation: The prescribed quantity of powder is mixed with a specific volume of clean, fresh water or milk replacer. The powder is highly soluble in water.
- Administration: The medicated water/milk is provided as the sole source of drinking fluid for the animals during the treatment period. This ensures that all affected animals receive the medication.
- Dosage and Duration: Dosage and treatment duration (typically 3 to 5 days) vary by the animal species, body weight, and severity of the infection, and should be strictly followed under the guidance of a veterinarian.
- Monitoring: Water consumption should be monitored to guarantee animals receive the correct dosage.
