5% Dextrose D5W (500ml)

Dextrose (Hypotonic 5%) is an intravenous fluid solution used to replace free water in animals with hypernatremia (high sodium), or for maintenance therapy. It contains only dextrose (glucose) and water, with no electrolytes. When administered, the dextrose is quickly metabolized, leaving the "free water" to spread throughout the body's fluid compartments.
