Amoxycillin & Dicloxacillin Oral Powder

Amoxycillin and Dicloxacillin oral powder is a combination antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections in animals including respiratory tract, genitourinary tract, gastrointestinal tract, and skin and soft tissue infections. Typically administered by dissolving it in drinking water. A WOAH Veterinary Medicine.

Amoxycillin & Dicloxacillin oral powder is used for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by penicillinase-producing staphylococci.

INDICATIONS

  • Respiratory Tract Infections: Treatment of upper and lower respiratory infections, including pneumonia, caused by susceptible organisms like E. coli, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, and Pasteurella multocida.
  • Urinary and Genitourinary Infections: Management of infections affecting the urinary tract, such as cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis, as the medication tends to concentrate well in the kidneys and urine.
  • Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Treatment of various skin infections, abscesses, lacerations, and wound infections, often involving bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus species.
  • Gastrointestinal Infections: Management of bacterial infections in the digestive tract, including salmonellosis and E. coli infections.
  • Bone and Joint Infections: Used to treat conditions like osteomyelitis (bone infection), arthritis, and meningitis, particularly in swine caused by Streptococcus suis.
  • Post-Partal and Secondary Infections: Can be used to address infections occurring after birth and secondary bacterial infections following other issues, such as those resulting from ear and tail-biting in pigs

ASMINISTRATION

  • Mix powder with water as indicated on the product label
  • Tap the bottle to loosen the powder.
  • Add the required amount of water. shaking vigorously after each addition.
  • Shake the bottle well until the powder is completely dissolved.
  • The resulting liquid suspension is usually administered orally.
  • Use a calibrated oral syringe to measure the exact prescribed dose.
  • Slowly put the liquid into the animal’s mouth, ensuring they swallow the full dose.
  • Can be given with or without food; if stomach upset occurs, try giving it with a small meal.

Dosage:

  • Prophylactic Use: 1g/2ltr. of drinking water for 3-5 days.
  • Therapeutic Use: 1g/ltr. of drinking water for 3-5 days
