ADMINISTRATION

• Mixed with water/food (common for poultry and livestock): For animals like chickens, turkeys, ducks, and geese, the solution is typically added to their drinking water to ensure proper delivery and absorption across the flock. The medication’s solubility can be affected by high mineral salt concentrations in the water, so water quality should be considered.
• Direct oral administration (common for small pets like dogs and cats): When a specific dose is needed for an individual animal, the liquid is measured carefully using a syringe and administered directly into the pet’s mouth, often into the cheek pocket.
• With or without food: Some formulations, like fosfomycin tromethamine, can be given with or without food; however, other forms might be better absorbed on an empty stomach.
