Sulfanilamide is indicated for use as a topical antibacterial wound dressing and a maggot-killing (maggoticidal) and fly-repellent agent in dogs, cattle, sheep, goats, camels, and buffalo.

INDICATIONS

• Maggoted wounds: It effectively kills existing maggots and prevents further infestation (fly strike) in wounds.
• Surgical wounds: It helps maintain aseptic conditions in post-operative wounds, supporting the natural healing process.
• Accidental wounds: It is used for general traumatic injuries to prevent infection and fly infestation.
• Navel infections: It aids in the treatment and prevention of infections in the navel area, particularly in newborn animals.
• Foot lesions of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD): It is applied to help manage associated foot lesions and prevent secondary bacterial complications. 

ADMINISTRATION

• Clean the wound: Thoroughly clean and debride the affected area before applying the powder. This may involve manually removing maggots and flushing with a sterile solution.
• Dry the area: Gently dry the area surrounding the wound.
• Apply the powder: Sprinkle the powder over the entire lesion and the surrounding skin. For wounds with deep cavities, packing with gauze soaked in the product may be necessary.
• Frequency: Repeat applications as necessary until the wound has healed.
• Prevent licking: It is crucial to prevent the animal from licking the treated area, as oral ingestion can be harmful, particularly for certain sensitive species. Using an Elizabethan collar may be helpful.
