Fluralaner

Fluralaner is indicated for long-lasting treatment and prevention of flea and tick infestations in dogs.

Flea infestations: Treatment and prevention of adult flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis) for 12 weeks. The medication kills newly emerged fleas before they can lay viable eggs, thus breaking the flea life cycle and helping control environmental flea populations.
Tick infestations: Treatment and control of several tick species:
- For 12 weeks: Black-legged tick (Ixodes scapularis), American dog tick (Dermacentor variabilis), brown dog tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus), and Asian longhorned tick (Haemaphysalis longicornis).
- For 8 weeks: Lone star tick (Amblyomma americanum).

With Food: The medication should be administered at or around the time of a meal to significantly increase its bioavailability and effectiveness.
Ensure Ingestion: Offer the chew as a treat, give it with food, or place it directly in the dog’s mouth. It is important to observe the animal to ensure they swallow the entire tablet.
Dosage: The dosage is based on the dog’s body weight, and the tablets should not be broken or divided. A combination of tablets should be used for dogs over the specified weight range.
Frequency: A single dose is generally effective for 12 weeks (approximately 3 months) for most fleas and ticks. For the lone star tick (Amblyomma americanum), it is effective for 8 weeks.
