Avivet Flubenvet (containing flubendazole) is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic used for the treatment of internal parasite infections in chickens, turkeys, geese.
INDICATIONS
- Gapeworms (Syngamus trachea): Found in the trachea and lungs, causing breathing difficulties (“snick” or “gape”).
- Large Roundworms (Ascaridia galli): Inhabit the small intestine.
- Caecal Worms (Heterakis gallinarum): Found in the lower gut; they can act as a vector for Histomonas meleagridis (blackhead disease).
- Hairworms (Capillaria spp.): Inhabit the gut, causing significant damage even in moderate infestations.
- Gizzard Worms (Amidostomum anseris): Particularly relevant in geese.
- Tapeworms (Raillietina spp.): Controlled by specific formulations (e.g., higher doses).
ADMINISTRATION
- Target Species: Chickens, turkeys, and geese.
- Treatment Duration: The medicated feed should be provided for 7 consecutive days.
- Withdrawal Period: Zero days for eggs (chickens), and 7 days for meat.
How to Mix Flubenvet into Feed:
- Calculate Feed: Determine the total amount of feed for the birds over the 7-day period.
- Ensure Adhesion: To prevent the powder from settling at the bottom of the feeder, it is recommended to mix the powder with a tiny amount of cooking oil or cod liver oil before incorporating it into the main batch of feed.
- Methodical Mixing: Thoroughly mix the calculated amount of Flubenvet into the feed.
- Frequency: Treatment is typically repeated every 3 to 6 months to maintain control of worms
