Fatro S.p.A. Cefaximin-L is an intramammary ointment used for the treatment of mastitis in dairy cattle and buffalo during lactation.

INDICATIONS

  • Target Species: Dairy cows and female buffalo.
  • Primary Indication: Treatment of clinical and subclinical mastitis during the lactation period.
  • Specific Uses: It is used for acute, chronic, and subclinical udder infections.
  • Action Mechanism: It acts on microorganisms sensitive to Rifaximin and Cefacetrile.
  • Administration: It is applied as an intramammary ointment via a syringe into the teat, sometimes with repeat doses at 12–24 hour intervals.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Method: Intramammary use only (infusion into the teat canal).
  • Target Species: Dairy cows and buffaloes.
  • Procedure:
    1. Fully milk out the udder.
    2. Thoroughly clean and disinfect each teat.
    3. Insert the syringe cannula into the teat canal (partial insertion is often recommended to reduce risk of infection) and inject the contents.
    4. Massage the teat and udder upward to ensure distribution.
