Cephalexin tablets are used to treat a variety of bacterial infections in dogs and cats.

INDICATIONS

• Skin and soft tissue infections: This includes pyoderma (bacterial skin infection), abscesses, infected wounds, and hot spots.
• Urinary tract infections (UTIs): Cephalexin is frequently used to address bladder and other urinary tract infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
• Respiratory infections: It can be used for conditions like bronchitis and pneumonia.
• Ear infections: Specifically, it is used for deep ear infections (otitis interna/media).
• Bone infections (osteomyelitis).
• Surgical prophylaxis: It may be given before or after surgery to prevent infections. 

ADMINISTRATION

• Administration: The tablets are given by mouth, typically twice a day (every 12 hours). They can be given with or without food. If your pet experiences stomach upset (vomiting or diarrhea), giving the medication with a small amount of food or a treat may help.
• Dosage: The dosage and duration of treatment are determined by your veterinarian based on your pet’s weight, the type of infection, and its severity.
• Duration of Treatment: It is crucial to complete the entire course. Treatment can range from a few days to several weeks or months for deep-seated infections.
