Cephalexin capsules are indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections in dogs and cats. It is a broad-spectrum, first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic effective against a range of susceptible bacteria.
INDICATIONS
- Skin infections: Such as pyoderma and abscesses.
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs): Addresses bladder and kidney infections.
- Ear infections: Used for deep ear infections (otitis).
- Soft tissue and bone infections: Helps heal wounds or post-surgical infections and manage osteomyelitis in severe cases.
- Respiratory infections: Sometimes used for respiratory tract issues.
ADMINISTRATION
- Oral Administration: Capsules are given by mouth.
- With or Without Food: Cephalexin can be given with or without food. However, giving it with a small amount of food or a treat may help reduce common side effects like vomiting, diarrhea, and decreased appetite.
