Circomune Vaccine

Ceva Circomune is a live vaccine for chickens used for the active immunization against Chicken Anemia Virus (CAV). Helps protect breeder chicken’s offspring from severe clinical disease and mortality in the critical first weeks of life. A WVA Veterinary Medicine.

Chicken Anaemia Virus vaccine is indicated for healthy breeder chickens to stimulate maternal antibodies, protecting their progeny (chicks) from severe clinical disease and mortality in the critical first weeks of life.

INDICATIONS

  • Prevention of Vertical Transmission: Immunizing breeders several weeks before the onset of lay prevents the transmission of the virus from the hen to the embryo.
  • Protection of Progeny: Induces maternal antibodies in young chicks to prevent clinical signs of infectious anemia, such as aplastic anemia, lymphoid atrophy, and severe immunosuppression.
  • Reduction of Economic Loss: Helps prevent subclinical disease in commercial flocks, which often leads to reduced growth rates, poor feed efficiency, and increased susceptibility to secondary infections.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Active Immunization: It actively immunizes chickens against Chicken Anemia Virus, preventing disease.
  • Maternal Immunity: Helps protect breeder chicken’s offspring from the disease by transferring maternal antibodies.
  • Age and Route: It is administered via wing web injection to healthy, susceptible breeder chickens between 9 and 12 weeks of age.
  • Preparation: The vaccine is live, stable, and liquid, requiring no diluent and should be used within one hour of opening
  • Optimal Timing:
    • Typically administered once during the rearing period, between 8 and 16 weeks of age.
    • Vaccination must be completed at least 6 weeks before the onset of egg production to ensure adequate antibody levels are established.
  • Common Routes:
      • Wing-web stab: Often used for modified live vaccines.
      • Injection: Intramuscular or subcutaneous administration.
      • Drinking water: Available for certain live attenuated strains.
