Enrofloxacin oral solution is used to treat bacterial infections in dogs, cats, calves, swine, and poultry.
INDICATIONS
- Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Including urinary cystitis, in dogs and cats.
- Respiratory Infections: Such as pneumonia, bronchitis, tonsillitis, and rhinitis, in dogs, cats, poultry, and livestock.
- Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Including dermal infections, wounds, and abscesses.
- Gastrointestinal (GI) Infections: Such as bacterial enteritis and ulcerative colitis in dogs, cats, calves, and poultry.
- Other Deep-Seated or Difficult Infections: Used for infections in tissues that are tough to penetrate, such as osteomyelitis (bone infections), peritonitis (inflammation of the abdominal lining), and prostate infections.
- Specific Species Indications: Approved for use in swine and cattle for respiratory diseases and colibacillosis caused by specific susceptible bacteria. It is also used in various exotic animal species (e.g., birds, reptiles, small mammals) often in an “off-label” capacity.
ADMINISTRATION
- Administer directly into the mouth using a dosing syringe.
- For livestock and birds (e.g., chickens, turkeys, rabbits), often administered via the drinking water.
- With or Without Food: Best absorbed if given on an empty stomach. However, if it causes nausea, vomiting, or stomach upset, it can be given with a small amount of food.
- Avoid Dairy/Supplements: Not for use wiith with dairy products (including cheese), antacids, or multivitamins containing calcium, iron, or aluminum, as these can interfere with absorption.
- Use Fresh Solution Daily: If mixed into drinking water (especially for poultry), the medicated water should be made fresh each day.
