Febantel/Fenbendazole/Oxfendazole is a group of veterinary anthelmintic (deworming) agents evaluated together because they share a direct metabolic relationship.These three substances are essentially different versions of the same active treatment:- Febantel is a "prodrug." Once an animal swallows it, the body rapidly converts it into Fenbendazole.
- Fenbendazole is then further metabolized (oxidized) into Oxfendazole.
- Because they all eventually turn into the same active metabolites, the Codex Alimentarius defines their "marker residue" as the sum of all three, expressed as oxfendazole sulfone equivalents.
