Acatak Duostar Pour-on

Elanco's Acatak Duostar (fluazuron) is an antiparasitic pour-on treatment combining fluazuron and ivermectin used to control ticks and internal/external parasites in beef cattle. Works by inhibiting development of ticks, roundworms, lungworm, lice, and mites. An FAO/WHO Veterinary Medicine.

Fluazuron is indicated for the control and treatment of cattle tick infestations.

INDICATIONS

  • Cattle Tick Control: Inhibits tick development, stopping larvae from molting and preventing egg hatching, reducing pasture contamination.
  • Internal Parasites: Controls gastrointestinal roundworms (like Ostertagia ostertagi, Haemonchus placei, Trichostrongylus axei) and lungworm.
  • External Parasites: Treats lice (sucking & biting), sarcoptic and chorioptic mites, and buffalo fly.
  • Strategic Program: Used as part of an integrated approach to manage tick populations and prolong the effectiveness of other treatments.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Application method: Apply the product in two bands, approximately 7cm wide each, on either side of the spine, from the rump to the shoulders.
  • Applicator: Use an Elanco-approved applicator, such as the Acatak Duostar Manual Applicator or a Genesis Power Doser, to ensure optimal absorption and efficacy.
  • Dosing: Calculate the correct dose based on the heaviest animal in the group and the recommended rate of 1.5 mg fluazuron and 0.5 mg ivermectin per kg of body weight.
  • Timing: Apply when ticks are first seen, but not before six weeks after the previous treatment.
  • Maximum treatments: A maximum of three treatments per annual tick season is recommended.
