Sacox Medicated Feed Mix

Huvepharma's Sacox is a polyether ionophore antibiotic feed mix, used to prevent coccidiosis in poultry, including broilers, roasters, and replacement chickens. A WOAH Veterinary Medicine.

Huvepharma’s Sacox medicated feed mix is a polyether ionophore antibiotic used as a coccidiostat in poultry and livestock.

INDICATIONS

  • Broiler and Replacement Chickens: Sacox is primarily used as an aid in the prevention of coccidiosis caused by various Eimeria species, including E. acervulina, E. brunetti, E. maxima, E. mivati, E. necatrix, and E. tenella. For chickens, it may also be approved in some regions for increasing the rate of weight gain and improving feed efficiency.
  • Quail: It is approved for the prevention of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria dispersa and Eimeria lettyae.
  • Grower/Finisher Pigs: Indicated for enhancing productivity by increasing the rate of weight gain and improving feed efficiency.
  • Rabbits for fattening: In Europe, it is approved for the prevention of coccidiosis caused by specific Eimeria species.
  • Benefits:
    • Prophylactic control of coccidiosis: Protects against Eimeria species.
    • Control of bacterial infections: Also exhibits activity against Clostridium perfringens, the causative agent of necrotic enteritis.
    • Improved performance: Won’t negatively affect broiler growth, can improve growth rate, feed efficiency, and reduce mortality.

ADMINISTRATION

To ensure even distribution and effective dosing, the manufacturer and regulatory bodies recommend the following:

  • Secondary Premixing: To achieve uniform homogenization, first incorporate the Sacox microgranules into a smaller amount of feed (secondary premix) before adding it to the final large-scale batch of finished feed.
  • Stepwise Mixing: For large quantities, it is often mixed in stages: first into 10 kg of feed, then up to 100 kg, and finally into the 1,000 kg (1 tonne) complete feed batch.
  • Continuous Feeding: Once prepared, the medicated feed should be provided continuously as the sole ration to the target animals.
Dosage Rates
  • Broiler Chickens: 0.5 kg of Sacox 120 per 1,000 kg (1 tonne) of complete feed to achieve a final concentration of 60 mg/kg (60 ppm) salinomycin sodium.
  • Rabbits (Fattening): Inclusion rates generally range to provide 20–25 mg/kg in complete feed.
  • Pigs: Depending on age, rates range from 0.125 kg to 0.5 kg per tonne of feed (15–60 ppm).
