Methoprene granules ((S)-methoprene) are primarily indicated as an insect growth regulator (IGR) to disrupt the life cycle of pests.

INDICATIONS & ADMINISTRATION

1. Cattle: Horn Fly Control 

• Purpose: To prevent the development of horn flies (Haematobia irritans) in the manure of treated cattle.
• Mechanism: When used as a feed-through, the methoprene passes through the animal’s digestive tract and is excreted in the feces.
• Action: Prevents horn fly larvae from developing into adults within the dung pile, effectively breaking the pest’s reproductive cycle. 

• Flea Larvae: Granules are used in areas where pets live (such as kennels or bedding) to target flea eggs and larvae before they become biting adults.
• Mosquitoes: Some granular formulations (e.g., Altosid) are applied to non-crop aquatic areas, standing water, or wastewater to control mosquito larvae.
• Ants and Beetles: It is indicated for the control of fire ants, Pharaoh ants, and various beetles in food storage or production areas. 

Pig farms / Cattle stables:

• Wooden floor: It is applied on the 3rd day after the introduction of the new cattle. It is treated whole floor of the manure pit. The treatment is repeated after each removal of animal manure.
• Litter: Apply to each new layer of litter and the treatment is repeated after each increase in the layer by 8 – 10 cm.

Poultry farms:

• Cells: Treat the accumulated manure under the cells. The treatment is repeated after each increase the layer by 10 cm.
• Litter: Apply on each new layer of litter and the treatment is repeated after each increase in the layer by 8 – 10 cm.
