ADMINISTRATION
Each 1 ml contains Procaine Penicillin G 25,000 IU, and Dihydrostreptomycin Sulphate 200,000 IU.
- Route: The injection is for deep intramuscular use only. It must never be administered intravenously (into a vein).
- Preparation: The vial should be warmed to room temperature and shaken thoroughly to ensure a uniform suspension before use.
- Injection Site: The injection site (e.g., rump, hip, thigh muscle) should be disinfected with 70% alcohol. Needles of 16 to 18 gauge and 1 to 1.5 inches long are generally adequate for livestock intramuscular injections.
- Technique:
- Inject air into the vial to equalize pressure for easier withdrawal.
- After filling the syringe, remove any air bubbles.
- Insert the needle deep into the muscle and pull back gently on the plunger; if blood appears, withdraw the needle and select a new location to avoid injecting into a blood vessel.
- Inject the dose slowly.
Volume: No more than 10 mL should be injected into a single location to prevent tissue reactions and ensure proper absorption; rotate injection sites for subsequent treatments. Shake well before use.
- Cattle: 0.05 ml/kg body weight for 3~4 days.
- Calves, goats, sheep and swine: 0.1ml/10kg body weight for 3 days.
- Cattle< 20ml. Swine<10ml. – Calves, sheep and goats<5ml per injection site.
